Our featured artist for the month of March is the lovely Baily Belle. Her creations come from her heart and imagination.

Q.) How long have you been creating and what really got you into it?

A.) Well I have been creating since I was a young girl. I often think back to when I had a studio set up for myself atop an old dresser in my parents basement. I would work there with a hot glue gun, beads and earring posts; along with puffy paints and anything sparkly! That was many years ago and since having my own beautiful babies and being lucky enough to stay home with them I have returned to my jewelry making hobby. Thankfully, I have progressed from glue guns and puffy paint!
Q.) How would you tell someone off the street what it is you do?

A.) I am a jewelry designer, photographer and crafter; which means I dabble in just about everything! I love to work with copper and sterling silver and will be adding 14k gold pieces in the future.

Q.)How do you feel when you are creating a piece?

A.) Ha! That depends on how well the piece is going. Everything from joy to pure frustration can run through my mind during the creative process. In the end I am thrilled with most of the things I make.

Q.) Where do you draw your inspiration from?

A.) My inspiration comes mainly from nature and life in general. I'm an Aquarius and love the ocean so naturally shades of purple, turquoise and green are my favorites!

Q.) Do you ever want to try something but don't know how? If so what is it?

A.) Yes, I recently received a tumbler and soldering tools for Christmas and I am still waiting to use them! I would also love to start wax casting my rings.

Q.) Is there any one thing you love to create?

A.) I have the most fun with custom pieces and those that allow me to have creative freedom.

Q.) How do you wish to be remembered.

A.) That's a tough one! As my 97 year old grandfather always says, "Everything in moderation!" I am a loving person with a very passionate soul. Living life to its fullest and being with my family are two of the most important things to me. If we are talking about my funeral (a morbid thought to some but a celebration of life to me) I want dancing and fireworks! Ha Ha. Seriously, celebrate life and we'll meet again.

It's been wonderful getting to know a little more about BailyBelle and I must say she has been an inspiration to us. We look forward to seeing her new creations in the future.

january featured artist

For january we have Pearl as our featured artist. Please read to get to know Pearl and her creations.

1st:How long have you been creating and what really got you into it?

A: I think I started creating in my early teens - knotting friendship bands, cross-stitching, crocheting and card-making. I can't remember how I got into those, but they're probably good for keeping me out of trouble! At a later stage in life, I picked up basic photography, pottery and now, jewellery-making. I love beautiful things and these forms of creation allow me to capture that moment or that thought in time.

2nd: How would you tell someone off the street what it is you do?

A: I would tell them I make simple and pretty little jewellery that can be fun too.

3rd: How do you feel when you are creating a piece?

A: Excited and anxious to know how it will turn out. Ecstatic if it's better than or as I expected.

4th: Where do you draw your inspiration from?

A: organic/earthy things, contrasts, geometric shapes, colors, patterns, textures, and cutesy stuffs too! ;p

5th: Do you ever want to try something but don't know how? If so what is it?

A: I would like to paint one day.

6th: is there any one thing you love to create?

A: I love to make necklaces, because they can dress up an outfit instantly!

every day stress

Honestly, I'm stressed. We have been remodeling a house for my in-laws, which has been more headaches than I ever imagined. Creating new items(when we have a free minute, not often) and trying to manage all of the online content we have out there.

All of this begins to take it's toll after awhile. I wonder sometimes how are we going to make it through today. What is going to happen tomorrow? I could ask myself this a 100 times a day. But is it really worth stressing out about? In the end I have a wonderful wife that loves and supports me. She lets me be myself without ever saying "man, you are just damn weird." well sometimes she does but we laugh about it.

At those times when we are laughing and enjoying just being around each other, I think back to all the stressful moments in the past and realize we made it. It may have been hard at the time, we could be losing our car, but in the end we have each other and are blessed to be able to share our creations with the world. So in short I guess it's not that bad after all, I mean who needs a car, lol.

A negative can turn into a positive

Hey everyone I just wanted to take some time and let everyone know what's been going on with the hippie couple. Phoenix and myself have been creating new items everyday some are posted to Artfire and others are sold and fairs and festivals. We do have some totally new items we are trying to finish to post on Artfire (the ceramic chess sets) we hope to make it in time for christmas but they have proved to be more time consuming than I had originally thought.

We recently created a fan Page on Facebook. This page's main purpose is to help connect people from all walks of life through art. Our belief is that while creating a piece you can surround it with positive energy and that energy is absorbed by that piece. By charging the creation with positive energy it is now able to pass on to whomever purchases it. Not only do we promote our items but everyone may feel free to post a link, photo, text, video or anything else that has a positive vibe to it on our fan page. Our goal is to help everyone spread positive, pure energy throughout the world.

Just the other day I posted some new items called bottle cap necklaces. These are made from reused bottle caps. I collect these bottle caps from my father in law who is an alcoholic, my thought was even though this may be a negative thing he is doing I don't have to let it be a waste. So we plan to donate a portion of all bottle cap necklace sales to a charity of your choice. Whenever you purchase a bottle cap necklace here please remember to mention your choice of charity. At the end of the month the choices will be added up and the charity with the most picks will get the donation. I will post the charity that receives the donation here onthis blog with the amount donated. I urge everyone to participate and help spread the positive energy, that lies within us throughout the world.

Do something positive today, together we can change the world.

bottle cap necklace

Sadly, my father in law is an alcoholic and has been the majority of his life. One day it hit me how to turn this negative into a positive. While their is nothing he is willing to do to help himself, I could reuse these bottle caps and pour as much positive energy into them as we can.

We would like to donate 50 cents from everyone of these we sell to a charity. The idea is to let you pick which one. So along with your order let us know the charity of your choice. Every month the choices will be added up and the most picked charity will receive the donation.

Help us spread the positive energy.

a new idea

So after 3 days of trying find some inspiration i've found it. I will scavenge the the outdoor for the supplies I need and hopefully bring this new idea to everyone later today. It's so exciting to have an idea that pops in your head and can not wait to flow outward into the realm of reality. I don't want to spoil the surprise with too much info right now. But lets just say I think everyone will flip their "tops" for this new creation I am about to bring to artfire.
